Gumball 3000
Throughout my life I have attended many car meets, races, and auto shows, but the most impressive car event I have ever been to was the start of the Gumball 3000 in New York City. In may of 2012, as my birthday present I was able to skip school for a day and go to a race I had always dreamed of attending. The Gumball 3000 is a 3000 mile rally/race that occurs over a week and features some of the most exotic cars and celebrates in the world. The race began in 1999 where 50 friends raced through 6 countries in Europe. It has since, expanded to a multimillion dollar business with an entrance fee of $63,000 per car. It attracts some of the most eccentric drivers and cars in the world, and for the observer, one of the most unique car spectacles you can see.

When I got there it was better than I could have dreamed. There were dozens of the greatest cars known to man, many customized and modified in order to give them a unique look. Right off the bat I saw and met celebrities such as Tony Hawk, Xzibit, David Hasselhoff, and the Dudesons. They all were standing just feet from me, and I made conversation and bonded with these uber-wealthy and elite individuals over our shared passion for cars. They then invited me into the actual starting grid through the barriers keeping everyone else out, and got closer to these dream cars than I had ever been before. The Gumball rally was a special moment in my life, and while I did not set off with them on their journey I was able to have one of the best seats in the house when watching it begin.
